Watercolour Paints.
Cad yellow, cad red, alizarin chrimson, cobalt blue, ultramarine, hookers green, raw sienna & burnt sienna. A good brand please, you can chose which.
Brushes
At least 3 sizes.(#4 #6.#12) round taklon or better
#2 rigger (liner)
and 1" or 1.5" flat wash brush.
Paper
At least 300gsm. Block would be ok. Otherwise pre stretched paper. (want a handout on stretching w/colour paper?)
Sundries
Tissues, rags
Blade or scalpel.
2b Pencil (suggest a clutch Type)
Kneadable eraser
Palette
masking tape or a stapler if you have one.
A stiff board (or two) aprox 15in by 20in to stretch paper onto. MDF or plywood is ideal, (try Taylors hardware for an offcut)
N.B. More materials may be required before the course completes.
We will supply all materials,
please bring an old shirt or a painting smock
Something to draw on, a board to hold it & something to draw with. You can use whatever you like except oils or anything pungent (no sprays either). Some easels are available for those who get in early, you can bring your own if it's portable and not enormous.
The model is in front of the class at 6.00pm so you need to be set up before then. We break around 7.00 for supper, it's usually provided but you are welcome to bring something (expect to share it). There's no formal tuition at these sessions, which are available to any adult who wants to draw from life.
Paint, you start in black & white so you need a tube of each in oil (Art Spectrum brand recommended, but it's your choice)
interlocked hog brushes large sizes, round shapes
stretched canvas or canvas panel/board 16 by 20in or 14 by 11in thoroughly gessoed.
a wooden palette (kidney shape preferred)
Odourless medium, no turps please (as we provide coffee & tea)
rags and patience!
Paint
A basic range of colours (ask Marilyn) A2, Atelier, Atelier AM, or Finity, are recommended, but if you have some other brand bring it, you will go through it.
Brushes
Hog hair, cheapies ok at this stage but big ones please.

couple of sheets of oil sketch paper (small pad is fine)

sketching materials especially cartridge paper & charcoal (any type)
mediums (bring what you have, Marilyn will introduce you to them as the course progresses. Using acrylics without mediums is like cooking without herbs and spices)
